How To Remain Safe From Bitcoin Criminals

Digital currencies, as the result of the digital domain, have dependably existed in the ether – no joke planned – implying that physically there was nothing to hold, or to lose/have stolen. There has always been an existing threat to bitcoin users getting robbed online with the exception of sharp users.

Presently this case is changing as criminals have found a way to continue their activities successfully offline and are robbing clients on the street. There have been reports of bitcoin users coming face to face with such criminals who physically attack them, asking for bitcoin as a ransom which is to be sent to unknown accounts.

From the look of things, users are no longer safe online regardless of the various precautions they take but all hope is not lost as there are some security measures one can take to ensure that they do not fall into the trap of these bitcoin criminals.

In the recent past, there have been reports of a bitcoin theft in the quiet holiday resort of Phuket, Thailand earlier in January. There was another incidence as a Russian held captive until he gave the robbers access to his bitcoin account and gave them close to $100,000.

Bitcoin theft has become a common trend but is mostly affecting those who disclose how much bitcoin they possess.

In January this year, Pavel Nyashin, a Russian cryptocurrency investor was attacked in his home in Leningrad Oblast and he transferred close to $425,000 of bitcoin to the attackers.

There are some fundamental things one can do to be careful, be it on the web or disconnected. Many know the subtle strategies with regards to securing one’s resources, however, digital currencies may appear to be secure to the point that individuals risk losing them regularly.

However, not all theft cases are as a result of the carelessness of the users but in recent days, they are ways that one conceal the fact that they are cryptocurrency users.

But what’s more horrific is the fact that criminals are not only hacking into the accounts of users but are now engaging in face-to-face attacks.

Still, the most fundamental approach to be careful with your crypto isn’t to be excessively egotistic as this will only draw attention. The only way is to not give out public or open disclosure of the amount of bitcoin one possesses.
