Twitch Streaming App Streamlabs Promotes Cryptocurrency Tipping

On Friday, Famous Twitch streaming app Streamlabs announced that it will now permit users to tips streamers using cryptocurrency.

The service which will make it possible for live stream operators to receive donations from their fans has now combined functionality, allowing streamers to receive cryptocurrency tips immediately.

Coinbase will be used by Streamlabs as its payment processor, hence streamers will need to connect the service to their Coinbase accounts. After streamers login into their accounts, viewers will immediately have the alternative to tip using cryptocurrency.

At the initial stage, the service will promote bitcoin, ethereum, litecoin, and bitcoin cash. Yet Streamlabs noted it “will be looking into adding other coins in the future.”

The service does not come with any charges however streamers will be charged if they decide to sell the coins for fiat on Coinbase.

Information released on Newzoo states that Twitch users streamed over 2 billion hours in the first four months of 2018.  An estimated 15 percent of Twitch streams are now developed using Streamlabs OBS, the firm’s latest-released professional streaming app.

Streamlabs also promotes other less famous platforms, such as YouTube, Mixer, Facebook LIve, Periscope, and Picarto. The firm stated that over $34 million was spent on tips during Q1.
