The Forgotten
People who receive disability benefits are the latest victims of the ever reaching for the stars housing prices. A lot of them who have applied for subsidized housing have been put on a long waiting list.
This is becoming a big problem according advocacy groups.
Unfortunately, the homelessness issue is not at the top of the government’s their top priority list the responsibility falls on the shoulders of the advocacy groups. In the city of Toronto, the demand and supply for affordable housing for this demographic is unbalanced; there isn’t enough housing units.
Every province is trying to handle the problem in their own way but more needs to be done.
The truth of the matter is this:
As callous as it may sound, the only reason why there aren’t sufficient housing units for low income families is because builders are more interested in making money than putting a roof over the head of a family. That is the world we live in now.
