Proposal By BC Taken Up By The Urban Land Institute

The idea of the British Columbia government contributing to take care of 2.900 rental units that were proposed earlier has been finally taken up by the Urban Land Institute. However, they urge that every department of the government should work together and be able to take share in the responsibility concerning the concerns of each zone.

The Urban Land Institute does not deem it right for the municipalities to fully take on the zoning responsibility upon themselves as a whole. Therefore they are admonishing and calling on the federal government and provinces to carry out their duties and make sure there are enough zoning in major cities in Canada in order for new homes to be provided and made available.

ULI said that there should be precise and mass concentration on set objective-proximate to latest swift transit groundwork and that development on the use of land should be directly related to transit planning. A ULI statement states: “The development industry is ready to deliver even more affordable housing, but municipal red tape and restrictive zoning regulations must be addressed.”
