Ford will Import Focus Cars From China To The U.S.

Motor Company Ford will move production of its little Focus car called sedan to China beginning in 2019, and afterward transport the vehicles back for North American customers intriguingly.

Passage as of now makes some Focus autos in China, however beginning in 2019, Ford Focus autos sold in North America will be made there, as well. It will mark the first run through the automaker will make autos in China and export them back to the United States.

After the switch is finished, China will produce the majority of the company’s Focuses, with some originating also from Europe.

Ford expects to save $1 billion, compared to its original production plan intended to build the Focus in its Mexico plant worth $500 million.

Presently, Ford makes Focus autos sold in North America in Michigan, and the company says no U.S. employee will be out of a job because of the change. The company says after the move, it will at present export more autos from the U.S. to China than the opposite.

“Finding a more cost-effective way to deliver the next Focus program in North America is a better plan, allowing us to redeploy the money we save into areas of growth for the company — especially sport utilities, commercial vehicles, performance vehicles as well as mobility, autonomous vehicles and electrified vehicles,” said Joe Hinrichs, Ford’s president of global operations.

Ford said it would invest $900 million at the Kentucky truck plant to build the redesigned Navigator and Ford Expedition. It has plans to build more of the big SUVs at an Ohio plant if demand increases.

The plant, which is a main hub for the company’s large vehicle production currently secures about 7,600 employees. 1,000 new jobs are expected to be created with that new money.
