Madonna Associates With Ripple To Help Orphans
Known for her determination to go beyond boundaries in her musical career, Madonna is now determined to go beyond boundaries in connection to charity.
As a way to mark her 60th birthday which will be on August 16th, Madonna is associating with Ripple to gather funds intended to help orphans in Malawi through Raising Malawi, a charity the Queen of Pop established over ten years ago.
During the fundraising period which begun from July 30 and end August 31, Ripple is determined to match all the public donations that will be raised in support of particular Madonna’s cause.
Madonna noted that the donations will particularly go towards the work of the nonprofit at the Home of Hope orphanage in Malawi. About US$28,783 has been raised through Madonna’s Facebook page at the time of writing.
Ripple released a statement explaining that Malawi has around one million children who have been orphaned after their parents died from HIV/AIDS-related issues.
“We’re honored to be a part of Raising Malawi’s amazing work with some of the world’s most underserved children,” Ripple’s senior vice president of business operations, Eric van Miltenburg, said.
However, Ripple’s statement did not specify if the donations will be matched in XRP or USD.
Miltenburg noted that Ripple was introduced to Raising Malawi by it investors at Sound Ventures, a tech investment fund developed by Hollywood actor Ashton Kutcher and Guy Oseary six years back.
