5 Tips On How To Make Your Home More Child Friendly
Having a house is one thing, but having a house with children is a whole different case. Kids running around, throwing toys and objects in the house is a common practice for them therefore, the way you amour your house for such missiles should be given a lot of thought. Children can be clumsy and have little or no knowledge of the value of things in the house and so your house should not only be comfortable for you but also your children. Here are 5 ways you can make your house child friendly.
#1. Choose the right furniture
When babies or kids realize that they have enough strength to push or destroy things, it becomes there sole interest to do just that. When decorating your house try getting chunky or heavy furniture so that your kids won’t be able to push them accidentally (or intentionally). Avoid pointy edged furniture which might hurt your kids when they run around.
#2. Use stain repellent fabric
Kids can be messy and no matter how careful you are, it’s inevitable for kids to rub oily or soiled hands on the chair, window curtains or table sheets. For this reason you can use leather or linen fabrics that are easy to wipe off. Tables can also be covered with plastic covers instead.
#3. Safe accessories
Children love and are attracted to small, shiny object they see. Use high shelves to store all small valuable things you have or you will end up losing a lot of things. Decorate your living space with soft and large objects.
#4. Easy -to- clean rugs
Spilled milk is nothing to cry about, unless it spills all over your lovely living room rug. Kids are very clumsy and are constantly pouring water, juice or other liquids on the floor. Having your rugs stained or even ruined for good can be heart breaking, therefore try using rugs that are not too thick and dry off easily.
#5. Avoid glass
As the saying goes, people who live in glass houses should not throw stones was not said for no good reason. Children love throwing objects in and directions and at anything. When decorating your house, use less glass to avoid your kids breaking them and ending up in the ER from injuries.
Your house is never the same again when you have a child. The house is always disorganized when they are around, but kids will always be kids. To save yourself from all the trouble, decorate the house in such a way that both you and your kids will be comfortable, free and safe in it.
