Although the claims were not authentic, another questioning followed in 2014 about ties to a Moner Mohammed Abu-Salha, an American that had committed a suicide bombing in Syria. The father of the suspect said a recent incident occurred at Miami where his son got “very angry” at the sight of two men kissing. A history of aggressive behaviour and mental instability had been expressed repeatedly said the ex-wife of Mateen, Sitora Yusufiy who had been abused physically by the husband.
The shooter called 911 during the attack to pledge his loyalty to IS. The terrorist group has urged their followers to attack the Western world throughout Ramadan. Amaq news made a declaration that the shooter is a supporter of IS. Although these claims were made, there was no clear involvement of IS in the attack. The United States President said this is just a mere example of Mateen showing “home-grown extremism” through influential online content.
