Canadian students finding other avenues to pay for tuition

High tuition fees in Canadian University’s are driving young college students into finding alternative means to pay their tuition and other costs. The number of students turning to “sugar daddies “ to pay their tuition fees is on the rise and even though it is not an accepted way, more students are opting for it.

Reports from the matchmaking website Seekingarrangement.com states that there are more students are signing up for the service to finance their post-secondary education.

The “sugar daddies” provide money and gifts to students in exchange for dates and other agreements made with the students.

Although there are other University’s with higher figures of students signing up for the service, the University of Toronto beats the rest with 683 students making use of the service.

This is becoming a major concern according to the founder of Seeking Arrangements’ Brandon Wade. Students want to get a higher education to be able to get well paid jobs but it is almost impossible to have a reasonable education in Canada.  Tuition and other schooling costs are becoming really expensive and student’s loans have even gone about the $25,000 limit.

In an effort to address the growing concerns of students, the government last year announced that students will no longer have to repay their loan until they are able to have yearly earnings of $25,000.

It comes as a surprise for the president of the University of Alberta’s Students’ Union that an increasing number of University students are going in for such an unacceptable means to acquire money by putting their lives at risk.

According to him, it’s unhealthy for students to participate in sexual activities and even though not all students are involved in such practices, it will not be surprising if it happens that way. Students and their “sugar daddies” make their arrangements on the type of relationship they want to have.

Data from the website shows that over the past two years the numbers of students making use of the service have increased from 1.4 million to 2.5 million. Students get their tuition fees covered by their “sugar daddies” as they get $2,700 as monthly allowance which covers their school cost.
