Toronto Insisting On Going Ahead With Laneway Housing
The Toronto City Council is being influenced by two councilors to have laneway housing approved in order to deal with the current issue of the scarcity of homes in Toronto.
Vancouver, Ottawa, and Regina took up this policy earlier on, and according to what advocates are saying, it will be an accountable response to the low rate of vacant homes currently, which is at 1.6 per cent and does not seem to be getting any better with the 30,000 new occupants relocating to the city year after year.
For the basement apartments that have already been given the go-ahead in the GTA, which are the same sizes to that of the small units. Mary-Margaret Mchanon and Ana Bailao are in favor of it being allowed in the GTA.
A consultation has been scheduled for the 5th of next month.
