New Ken Dolls Make A Diverse Makeover.

Now Ken is finally getting some attention after being overshadowed by Barbie for decades as he is now getting a makeover.

Mattel is introducing 15 new looks for the male doll, giving him different skin tones, body shapes and hairstyles.

Resulting in a similar overhaul for Barbie about a year ago, the makeover is part of the toy company’s arrangements to make the dolls more diverse and appeal to today’s kids. After years of stagnation, the company faced rise in sales for the first three quarters of last year following the release of the new Barbie line.

“The Barbie brand has always reflected the times, so modernizing Ken is the next step in the brand’s evolution to offer more diverse products,” the California-based company said in a release. The dolls has new features like cornrows and man buns. And also, the dolls will be sporting new fashion looks like think skinny ties, plaid shirts and graphic t-shirts.
