СNBC Crypto Trader Host Ran Neuner Claims Coinbase Will Soon Announce Its First IPO
According to a posted tweet on thursday, Ran Neuner, host of the crypto trader show on CNBC Africa states that coinbase is about to declare it Initial Public Offering (IPO).
He claims that the details on coinbase’s IPO are to be disclosed on friday 26th October live on the CNBC crypto trader show.
Neuner also gave statistics on coinbase’s income and account numbers in his post. The infographics indicates that the various users on coinbase has now gotten to 25million with 600000 actively trading on the platform.
According to the data revealed, the california based crypto exchange has seen $90 million in income last quarter expecting to get $450 million in the last quarter of 2018. 80% of income came from customers, 15% more from institutional accounts and the source of other 5% was not revealed.
Asiff Hiriji, coinbase president initially hinted about an IPO in late 2017. When he was asked about the possibility of taking the company public, he stated that :
“It is certainly in the interest of our investors…and the most obvious path of Coinbase is to go public at some point, but there’s a lot for us to do between now and then, whenever that date is.”
In early october, Recode cited two anonymous sources familiar with the issue who claimed that coinbase was about to finalize a deal that would value the company at about $8 billion. The crypto exchange reportedly was in talks with Tiger Global and its current shareholder for an investment of almost $500 million.
