Unemployment Rate In Alberta Recorded As The Highest Since 1994
Alberta’s unemployment rate has increased to 8.6 percent as recorded by Statistics Canada in July. This is the highest level since September 1994. The numbers were released in the federal agency’s monthly Labour Force Survey (LFS). Year-over-year, 104,000 full-time jobs were cut down. The rate for the town’s unemployment figures has gone up by 2.4 percent since last year July. In other places like Calgary, the rate of employment seems worse when compared to the other 33 metropolitan areas in Canada.
The employment rate in Edmonton was at 7.7 percent, which was the sixth-highest figure. Todd Hirsh, an economist at ATB Financial cut down on their job rate for the fourth month in a row, although the figure was insignificant and rise in the rate of employment occurred due to the huge number of people being employed. A report by Statistics Canada showed that there was a shortage of 10,600 full-time jobs and 9,100 part-time jobs last month July.

The country lost close to 31,000 jobs last month, the part-time jobs increased by 40,000 which had had the full-time job offset dropping by 71,000. July was recorded as the month with the biggest drop in over five years, which placed the rate of unemployment at 6.9 percent.
Economists had hopes that the country’s economy would provide jobs for most unemployed people.
