2,400 residents in Toronto experience power outage

An estimated 2,400 residents in west Toronto experienced power outage on Wednesday morning as a result of an obstruction in supply with Hydro One. Areas that were affected by the problem included Dufferin Street, Avenue Road, St. Clair Avenue and College Street.

However according to Hydro One spokesperson, Ani Bekmezian, the main reason for the problem has not yet being identified but investigations are ongoing by the maintenance team.

The outage also affected the subway service on Line 1 which led to the postponement of all services around 6:15 a.m. for many going to work, they had to call their various offices as they most definitely would get to work late.

Businesses also experienced some challenges during the period as most workers got late to work.

Customers were also left in the dark during the power outage reports state

But after the morning outage, the power was restored after 6 a.m. and continuing normal service resume

However during the period of the outage, the TTC took charge by running shuttle buses along a section of Line 1.

But earlier on last week, there was also power outage in Toronto as weather conditions caused trouble. Downed wires and trees were reported across Toronto due to high winds.

Various areas reported of tree uproot and fallen objects and the police received most of these urgent calls.

Despite the bad weather condition, no major hydro outages were reported in the Toronto area but Hydro One stated that as many as 14,000 customers were out of power across its service area.

Environment Canada has also alerted people that they might encounter driving difficulty as a result of strong winds and blowing snow.

But even though the main cause of the power outage on Wednesday morning is still not known, some are however speculating that the issues might have been caused by the weather condition.
