New Brunswick City To Take Action On Housing Affordability

Due to the new development which has taken the place of older apartment buildings has caused the need for multi-level action on the affordability of housing to be impacted. The latest developments are expected to cause rents to increase.

The location where the latest development would be taking place is the city of Fredericton. The executive director of New Brunswick Non-Profit Housing Association, Dan Murphy said that all the hierarchy of the federal authorities must come together to deal with the issue of housing affordability.

Murphy made mention to CBC’s Information Morning Fredericton: “If people don’t have affordable housing it really puts them in a bind to be productive members of society or even to deal with health consequences.”

He cautioned that as the functioning contracts will be terminated in the year 2030, the situation will worsen if something is not done about it.
