Hudson’s Bay aim to the number 1 in the e-commerce market

CEO Jerry Storch of Hudson’s Bay did not waste on “bragging” about his company’s new Perfect Pick system. Then again, if you spent $60 million on it, you too would probably talk about it.

What is the Perfect Pick?

The Hudson’s Bay is a retailer that also has an online website where anyone and everyone can shop from the comfort of a couch with a laptop or on the bus with a smart device. That part of the business is called e-commerce. The Perfect Pick is the robotic system that is responsible for searching for merchandise and delivering it to the workers in the warehouse; it is efficient. So efficient that—according to CEO Storch—it takes no more than 15 minutes after receiving an order for it to leave the warehouse and be on its way to its destination.

“When the robots are going down, they’re recharging their own batteries, from the friction against the walls.

Why is the robotics a big deal seeing that some other e-commerce companies have them?

The reason for this is that Hudson’s Bay is the oldest in the entire North America and it is the desire of CEO Storch to put it on the forefront of the e-commerce world.

“Nobody will beat us on the internet,” Storch declares. “Nobody.

As much as we appreciate CEO Storch’s enthusiasm, the truth is this:

The company is being defeated online by other companies. The likes of Walmart and Best Buy are the nation’s most visited sites and this information is  courtesy of SimilarWeb. Even Canadian Tire’s has more visits than his company and the company doesn’t even offer delivery; you have to pick it up yourself once you have placed your order. CEO Storch might want to accept the truth first then move on from there.

So is the leader of the e-commerce in Canada?

The American company Amazon. It is also number 1 in Canada.

Even though a lot of people might want to shop online, it is a nicer experience to go into the shop, try on clothes and go on from there; there is a disadvantage of shopping online; returning an article of clothing is nearly impossible.
