Vancouver Island school system to be adjusted because of real estate prices

Residents moving from the Vancouver real estate market are in for a big challenge as many families with kids are finding it difficult to enroll their kids in schools. And for families moving to Vancouver Island, they are in for a greater shock.

The real estate boom is affecting many provinces in Canada as many residents in cities with high home prices are packing their things in search of other affordable communities.

But this is having a negative toll on schooling systems that have in the past had fewer demands. For Emma Owens who moved from North Vancouver, getting enrollment for her kindergarten daughter was impossible in Vancouver Island as there was no space for her.
It is very difficult to have room for your child once the school registration is over and moving to the Island mid-term makes it even harder for kids to be enrolled.

For Owens, she will have to wait for the next school year to be able to get her two children enrolled at another school.
Mark Walsh who is with the Victoria area school district explained that it is also a great challenge for them and stated that the school system needs to be adjusted as times are changing with more parents to enroll their children.
Recently, there has been a 10% increase in enrollment as there is an increase number of people moving to the Island.
